“God gave me this strange set of contact lenses and this is how I see life.”

Two turning points happened simultaneously in 1989.  First, Leedy entered—and won—a gold medal in the NY Society of Illustrators first Humor Show, beating out 3500 international entries.  And second, his new oil pastel style was accepted into the Sausalito Art Festival, the #1 outdoor show in the country, (where he has exhibited for 18 years). His originals and reproductions are a delight to his customers. His works have been licensed onto t-shirts, note cards, mugs and calendars while his business also has over 25 wholesale accounts that sell his reproductions.  From 1998 to 2008 Leedy operated Art That Makes You Laugh® the Leedy humor gallery in Sausalito and Mendocino, CA. Tens of thousands of customers from all over the world came in, purchased and laughed their asses off, out the door. Leedy gives utmost thanks to his wife and partner, Elaine, who keeps the boat afloat and is a fine art pastelist in her own right. The public welcome and acceptance of his two galleries and at the hundreds of juried outdoor art shows has been overwhelming. Leedy feels that it is his mission to share and spread the humor and laughter that he was given by God.
